OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2013. During the first half of 2013, Severstal, one of the world's leading steel and steel-related mining companies, shipped approximately 90 thousand tonnes of rolled metal products to TMK, which is more than the volume of shipments for the entire year in 2012.

At a meeting of the Coordination Council of TMK and Severstal held in Cherepovets the representatives of the two companies discussed the improved quality of coiled and flat rolled steel products as well as product innovation and customer service.

The attendees also discussed the potential implementation of a joint project to create a delivery management system between the two companies. The project will aim to streamline all business areas, such as logistics, commercial and technical, relating to the deliveries of rolled metal products to TMK plants in order to reduce financial and time costs.

Sergei Marchenko, Deputy CEO for Logistics at TMK, commented: “This project represents the next stage for developing intercompany relations. We hope that this project will help us to reduce costs and delivery times as well as creating other synergies.”

Dmitry Goroshkov, Director of Marketing and Sales at Severstal’s Russian Steel Division, commented: “Whilst this joint project is in its very early stages, we will focus on improving the efficiency of all areas of our co-operation including developing innovative products and reducing costs throughout the entire value chain.”

The parties also discussed their participation in both ongoing and future projects to build main oil and gas pipelines over the next five years as well as other ways to develop and strengthen the relationship between the two companies.
