OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2013. Continuing study works are being carried out for preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) reports for SOCAR's new Oil & Gas processing and Petrochemical Complex (OGPC) Project by AECOM, who had been involved for provision of environmental consulting services for the Project.

In accordance with the schedule of study works, preliminary meetings were held on July 2-4withthe appointed contact persons for the ESIA activities from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Garadaghand Absheron District Executive Powers, and relevant institutes of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences with participation of representatives from SOCAR's OGPC Project Department, Ecological Department and AECOM.

Detailed information about OGPC Project and planned environmental and social activities during design, construction and operation of the Complex was provided during the meetings. The scope of the ESIA activities to be carried out, application of local and international standards, holding public hearings and meetings with the local community, conducting field surveys, assessment of various impacts and other important issues were discussed between the parties. During the meetings questions related to ESIA report were answered, relevant comments and suggestions were considered.
