Ukraine to Develop Investment Projects to Repair Irrigation Systems
OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2013. The Government will develop investment projects, through which to be restored and modernized irrigation systems throughout Ukraine. So, irrigation of 2.5 million hectares will increase total production of grain in 3-4 times in zones of risky agriculture. The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said during his working trip to Crimea.
"Growing of cereals and vegetables in the southern regions and the Crimea without irrigation is very difficult. Therefore, the activation program of economic development provides that irrigated agriculture areas will be increased. In particular, the restoration of irrigation in Crimea and Kherson region will increase the production of gross output by nearly USD 27 billion per year," the Minister said.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk stressed that we need to develop investment projects, through which will be restored and modernized irrigation system throughout Ukraine.
"Due to these projects will be restored irrigation system in the area of 2.5 million hectares, which will increase the total production of grain by 3-4 times," the Minister said.
In addition, during a working meeting with the leadership of the region Mykola Prysyazhnyuk commissioned to form a headquarters to deal with the development and implementation of initiatives to restore the existing and development of new irrigation systems in the Crimea.
