OREANDA-NEWS. The meeting between port's top management and participants of networking school on lean production technologies introduction was held in Commercial Port of Vladivostok. More than 70 specialists of railway companies from different regions of Russia attended the event.

The agenda of the visit focused on the overview of the port growth opportunities and presentation by Vladivostok Railway Station of the Project on reduction of wagon turnaround time by container train.

"Commercial Port of Vladivostok is actively involved in developing rail infrastructure and enhancing transit cargo shipments by rail in an effort to attract additional transit export-import cargo flows. In 2013 the port is planning to handle more containers versus the previous year,” told V. Padurya, Deputy Director General on container business.

Container traffic growth is the top priority of Commercial Port of Vladivostok. Currently significant volume of freight that arrives and leaves by rail is containerized cargo. The port successfully develops intermodal traffic, makes continuous efforts to increase the frequency of container train dispatches. This becomes possible due to its own rail assets.

During the official meeting G. Bokach, Head of Technical Policy Service of the Far Eastern Railway, said: “Fruitful cooperation of the port and railway - two important links of the FE transport chain - has a positive impact on the performance of both companies.”
