OREANDA-NEWS. “Uralmashplant” JSC currently ships the rotary furnace body 5,5х115 for one of the Central American companies. The contract for its supply was signed between “Uralmashplant” JSC and CEMEQ Minerals LLC (Russia) in November 2012. Today, the first lot consisting of 18 furnace sections is ready for shipment.

The rotary furnace body has unique dimensions comparable with those of modern submarines. With its 5.5 m inner diameter and 115 m length, it is two times larger than any of its counterparts ever produced by the plant. The total length of welds makes up 7.5 km. It is the first time when “Uralmashplant” produced the furnace like this.

To carry out the shipment, 9 special-purpose vehicles for heavy-weight and oversized cargo escorted by police and pilot cars will be used. The furnace sections will be transported early in the morning to provide maximum clear passage and non-stop movement across the city. The traffic service personnel will lift tram and trolleybus wires and switch off the voltage supply along the car string path.

The first lot of the rotary furnace will be delivered to the Rostov-on-Don seaport and then transferred to ships of “river-sea” class. Along the river Don, the cargo will reach Azov and Black Seas and then it will be delivered across the Atlantic Ocean to the customer in Central America.

The work was carried out around-the-clock, including the weekends. This made it possible to fulfill a part of the work ahead of the schedule.

The plant used new equipment for this work, namely, automatic welding set purchased by “Uralmashplant” in compliance with the plant re-equipment program supported by “Gazprombank”. The new set produced 80% of all welds.

To speed up the fabrication of furnace sections, Urlamashplant specialists brought up a number of labour-saving proposals which made it possible to reduce time required for some processes by several work shifts. Particularly, they changed section painting technology, stockpiling of the complete sections as well as their intra- and intershop transportation.

The customer's inspectors supervised the entire work process.

'I'm satisfied with what I saw and have no claims on the production quality. Moreover, I'd like to mention of the plant staff well-organized work,' noticed Anton Komarov, CEMEQ Minerals marketing director. 'We consider “Uralmashplant” as our strategic partner and intend to continue our cooperation in the future.'

'This contract is a breakthrough for our plant that allows entering the market of Central America, which is new for us,' emphasized Andrey Saltanov, “Uralmashplant” General Director. 'Thanks to our current programs of re-equipment, planning system development, costs reduction, production quality improvement, we managed to complete such a large and difficult order in time and with high quality.'

The rotary furnace body was manufactured based on the engineering of CEMEQ Minerals company which specializes in design and supply of crushing and milling and indurating equipment. It is the only company in Russia that completed 3 integrated projects of rotary furnaces supply for companies in Russia and Kazakhstan within the last 5 years.
