OREANDA-NEWS. RobelcoSAM, a Swiss company which jointly developed the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) with Dow Jones & Company, has awarded Mitsui & Co. with a RobelcoSAM Bronze Class rating for distinguished ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance.
CEO Baldinger, Director Wild and other key personnel of RobelcoSAM visited Mitsui & Co., and presented a bronze class trophy to Senior Executive Managing Officer Kinoshita of Mitsui. In consideration of the environment, the trophy was created with a 3D printer to reduce waste.
Mitsui received the highest rating for the Environmental dimension, a top level rating for the Economic dimension, and its rating in the Social dimension showed there was room for improvement in social reporting. During the meeting, participants shared a variety of ideas, and discussed Mitsui's rating for the 2012 fiscal year and the popularization of the DJSI World Index.
RobelcoSAM evaluates approximately 2,500 major corporations from different countries around the world in terms of their social, environmental, and governance performance, selecting only the most distinguished of these corporations for inclusion. This is the third year running that Mitsui has been selected, following a Gold rating in 2011, and a Bronze rating in 2012. We hope to continue to improve our ESG performance and to promote CSR management in pursuit of the sustainable development of both Mitsui and society.
