OREANDA-NEWS. At the Lithuanian Business Leaders event Achema represented by CEO Valdemaras Vareika was recognised among other Lithuanian business leaders for the progress in the field of ecology and announced the Green Company of the Year 2011.

Achema CEO Valdemaras Vareika emphasised that environmental protection, compliance with its stringent requirements and sustainability initiatives were constant priorities of the company. He was happy that Achema met the criteria of the most environmental protection aware company: implementation of renewable energy technologies, environment conservation and experience sharing. Valdemaras Vareika also regretted that only few Lithuanian companies pay sufficient attention to such initiatives. Therefore this award represents the acknowledgment of Achema efforts in social responsibility.

Lithuanian Business Leaders also featured categories such as the Most Efficient Company, which was Lifosa; the Exporter of the Year, which was given to Eksma; the Investor of the Year, which was given to Amilina.

The Lithuanian Business Leaders project was started by an influential Lithuanian business daily Verslo Zinios, the initiative is intended for the major companies of the country. The aim of the project is to not only assess and award the best companies, but to also create an environment in which company heads can share their experience and opinions and get inspiration for new works. It is planned to continue the project in the future with a view to bringing businesses and society closer together and showing gratitude to heads whose companies not only create new jobs but are also socially responsible.
