SCM Group Speaks at CSR Summer Institute 2013
OREANDA-NEWS. SCM and DTEK have spoken at UAMDBE Summer Institute 2013 “Corporate social responsibility of business and education: experience and problems of development” held in Cherkassy on 1-5 July. The companies talked about sustainability strategy and implemented social programmes and shared experience in building relationships with local communities.
Around 30 university teachers from Kiev, Lvov, Donetsk, Odessa, Khmelnitsky, Cherkassy, Zhitomir and other cities came to UAMDBE Summer Institute 2013 to discuss sustainability trends in Ukraine and beyond, practices for introducing sustainable development principles in companies and experience in teaching CSR discipline in Ukrainian universities.
The participation of business in the Summer Institute helps universities to understand better how companies follow corporate responsibility and sustainable development principles and improves the level of CSR courses in Ukrainian universities.
“For us sustainable development is a part of HOW WE WORK principles and values that underlie SCM's business. Therefore, we're sure that sustainable development and social responsibility can become a compulsory discipline in national universities. This is an imperative for our time. Young specialists with an insight into the sustainable development concept will be able to compete better in the global market. In turn, we're trying to fill the course with interesting high-quality information and share our hands-on experience in implementing most important sustainability projects,” said Natalia Yemchenko, SCM's director of public relations and communications.
Since 2009, under the national programme Contemporary Education, SCM has partnered with the UN Global Compact in Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and UAMDBE to introduce Corporate Social Responsibility discipline into Ukrainian universities. For more, please follow this link.
