OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2013. During the harvest which are being held in southern regions the national agrarians have gathered 2.2 mln tons of grain. According to the preliminary forecasts this year’s yield will amount 53-54 mln tons. The Government pays maximum efforts to achieve this, in particular draws additional agricultural equipment to the fields. The First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov announced.

“Now the harvest campaign is being held with the intensified speed and 2.2 million tons have been gathered thus far. Despite the complicated weather conditions this year the producers demonstrate good result which was obtained owing to this high yield capacity. If last year it amounted 16 hundreds kilograms from hectare, in the current year – 23,” Serhiy Arbuzov emphasized.

The First Vice Prime Minister considers the first results of the harvest give grounds to forecast that this year in Ukraine a good yield will be gathered. In average – 53-54 mln tons.

“For now there are all prerequisites for gathering of one of the largest yields over the independence years. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy contributed to the agrarians to be ensured with high quality seeds, fertilizers and fuel and lubricants and also renewed grain-harvesters. And now the Government operatively reacts to the situation in the field and facilitates to unhampered holding of the harvest campaign. Notably, the schedule of trips of the profile Minister Mykola Prysyazhniuk to all the regions has been approved with an aim to personally control the process of gathering the harvest,” Serhiy Arbuzov summed up.

It should be noted in 2011 the agrarians gathered a record yield over the independence years – 56 million tons, in 2012 – the third in amount – 46 million tons. By 2017 it is planned to boost production of grain crops up to 80 mln tons. With this aim the Government attracts investors ready to invest into the national agro-industrial complex up to USD 3 bln only in the current year. And in order to preserve and transport grain all around the country there are built infrastructure objects, in particular grain elevators are erected.
