Central Bank of Azerbaijan Holds International Savings Day
OREANDA-NEWS. July 02, 2013. The CBA held the International Savings Day (ISD) in the Azerbaijan Banks Association.
The event was opened by CBA Deputy Governor Mr Khagani Abdullayev, who told that the day was initiated by the CBA in 2012 jointly with the Azerbaijan Deposits Insurance Fund and the Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation with the participation of a number of commercial banks.
After the previous year event some banks expressed their interest in the event and desire to join us in the years to come. This is the reason why we invited all commercial banks, as well as the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association for broader events of this year, he said.
The representative of the SBFIC Mr Henning Zeeman detailed the participants on the events implied for this year, required budget and coordination issues.
To note, the International Savings Day was first held in October, 1924 in Milan, Italy at the International Congress of 29 countries. Currently, the day is celebrated in all leading countries, including Azerbaijan.
As yet the ISD events covered 28 schools in Baku and regions, and various contests. 26 bank branches held an open door event for high school students, who were detailed on banking and economy, deposit and loans aided by presentations.
