UIA Expanded Its Fleet with Two Boeing-737 Next Generation Aircraft
OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine International Airlines carries on implementing the program of fleet renewal and expansion. In June 2013 tow new Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft acceptance and transfer by the leading Ukrainian carrier was held.
UIA received both aircraft in question from AWAS - an international leasing company - under terms and conditions of operational lease. New aircraft passed an official registration procedure in Ukraine and received UR-PSG and UR-PSH registration numbers.
Thus, UIA fleet currently consists of 28 Boeing aircraft and 2 Embraer-190 aircraft.
“UIA long-term development strategy involves systematic fleet renewal and enlargement, - noted Yervgeny Treskunov, UIA Executive Vice President Strategy and Development. - Particularly, prior to 2018 airline's medium-haul will be fully renewed with Boeing-737 Next Generation aircraft. In support of the program implementation 5 new aircraft - 2 Boeing 737-900 aircraft and 3 Embraer-190 aircraft - are scheduled to arrive within the period of July - November 2013”.
UIA operates Boeing aircraft since the airline's foundation in 1992 and is currently the largest CEE Boeing aircraft operator. Moreover, UIA is the only Ukraine's airline to independently perform all types of Boeing aircraft maintenance and overhaul.
