OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2013. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has instructed a Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko to start elaborating a concept of the continental project on the development of a network of gas storages and modernization of the national gas transport system. The Head of Government declared during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

In his opinion, Ukrainian underground gas storages and modernization of our GTS are capable to pay a key role in strategic stability of European energy market. 

“It is a huge multiyear project. It is complex both in technical and political planes. We must commence its practical elaboration. In the first place, taking into account the national energy strategy,” Mykola Azarov announced.

The Premier of Ukraine commissioned Vice Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko to coordinate the work on elaboration of the concept of this project and present it before the summit in Vilnius.

“We have all the possibilities to play an important role on Eurasian continent. Ukraine has a unique geopolitical and geographic position, huge stores of hydrocarbons, coal and components of nuclear fuel, developed infrastructure of power energy and highly professional scientific and industrial human potential,” Mykola Azarov urged.

According to him, the Government has elaborated a project of renewed Energy strategy up to 2030 with taking into account all actual issues posed in front of power energy domain of Ukraine. We must also adapt this project to the new prospects.
