Installation of Electrolyte Processing Line Begins at BEMO Smelter
OREANDA-NEWS. UC RUSAL (SEHK: 486, Euronext: RUSAL/RUAL, Moscow Exchange: RUALR/RUALRS), the world's largest aluminium producer, informs that the installation of modern electrolyte processing equipment, produced by Outotec, is currently underway at the BEMO smelter. The electrolyte processing line is one of the most advanced on the market and will be used for the first time in Russia. The line will fully automate the processing of electrolytes at the BEMO smelter.
The installed equipment automates the process in which the electrolyte is crushed to the required fraction of any size. The specified capacity of the line is 40 tonnes per hour, which will meet the smelter's needs in full. The line is equipped with modern suction systems providing complete dust control at all stages of the process. The cost of the electrolyte processing line is EUR 5.1 million.
At present, equipment installation is taking place at the smelter site at an altitude of 53 meters and is supervised by representatives from the Russian office of Outotec.
Work continues to progress well and is due to complete on schedule for the launch of the smelter's first phase.
“We use only the most technologically advanced and energy-efficient solutions for the BEMO smelter construction,” commented Vladimir Polin, Director of Aluminium Division East at RUSAL. “Outotec's electrolyte processing equipment is a benchmark in the industry and the technology used is considered to be the most environmentally efficient globally.”
