Eurasia IC Paid USD278,600 in Respect of Railway Bridge Damage
OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2013. A railway bridge collapsed near the city of Abakan in the Russian Republic of Khakassia, which runs between Kamyshta – Alyuminievskaya stations.
The incident occurred about 7km from the station Kamyshta in the region of Askizsky. Due to the sharp rise in water level and the trees floating down the river, which literally rammed the bridge abutments, two spans collapsed, another in that time was in limbo, and relied on the sloping support.
There were no victims following the bridge collapse. It is via this bridge that raw materials are supplied to RUSAL Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant and as a result of the incident the supply of the plant with raw materials is stopped. This railway line (length 58 km) is managed by the enterprise "Department of temporary operation" located in Sayanogorsk. It is designed for departmental and importation of alumina Sayanogorsk aluminum smelter, as well as the export of finished products. Passenger traffic is not carried on it.
As a result of the insured event came the losses from business interruption, which is covered by Eurasia Insurance Company as part of its share of responsibilities. The insurance payment is amounted to USD278,000
