OREANDA-NEWS. Izhorskiye Zavody, a part of OMZ Group, started check assembly of the second VVER-1200 reactor vessel for Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant (NNPP-2).

The check assembly of the reactor vessel internals and the cover of the upper unit is one of the final stages in the manufacturing process of the reactor vessel before delivery to the customer.

The results of the assembly will be checked by the commission composed of representatives from OKB “GIDROPRESS”, NNPP-2, FSUE VO Safety and Izhorskiye Zavody experts.

The first reactor VVER-1200 was delivered to the customer in May 2011 in line with the contract on production and delivery of power engineering equipment for Novovoronezh NPP-2 signed in 2007. In terms of the project NPP-2006 the manufacturing technology and construction of the VVER-1200 were improved to guarantee better security, increase technical and economic characteristics and extend operating period of the power block to 60 years.
