Bratskaya HPP Resumed Normal Operation
OREANDA-NEWS. A 220 kV voltage transformer broke down at the Bratskaya HPP, causing a minor spill of burning oil. As the protection system was activated, electrical equipment in smoke-filled areas and some of the power lines supplying electricity to the Bratsk Aluminum Smelter were disconnected.
Power supply to all consumers has been restored; the Bratskaya HPP has resumed normal operation. A special commission set up by OJSC Irkutskenergo is investigating the causes of the accident.
