CBA Governor Receives WB Vice President
OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2013. Mr Elman Rustamov, Governor of the Central Bank received a delegation headed by Mr Joachim von Amsberg, the World Bank’s Vice President for Concessional Finance and Partnerships (CFP).
The participants discussed works done within the collaboration with the Republic of Azerbaijan, projects implemented, as well as successful results of the technical assistance and financial aid by the WB.
Head of the WB delegation highly appreciated the rapid growth dynamics of the country, socio-economic reforms, as well as large-scale infrastructure projects and invited Azerbaijan to get involved to assistance initiatives for poor countries. Mr J.Amsberg briefed about the performance of the International Development Association (IDA), projects implemented, the role of the countries in elevating the resources of the structure, and investment tools in poor countries as a donor country.
Mr E.Rustamov, in his turn, mentioned successful development of the WB and the CBA cooperation, and emphasized removal of the country from the IDA’s list of borrowing countries due to obtaining the middle income country status as a result of the successful economic growth strategy implemented by our President Mr Ilham Aliyev.
Mr E.Rustamov noted that he was positive about IDA’s initiative to share Azerbaijan’s growth experience with other countries in future, as well as participate in joint projects as an investor, and ongoing cooperation with international financial institutions.
Development prospects of the cooperation between the Azerbaijani Government and the WB, Joint Economic Researches and Financial Sector Assessment programs were also discussed during the meeting.
