OREANDA-NEWS.  June 21, 2013. Three local charitable organizations, namely the Qatar Charity, the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani’s Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), recently received the donations of Qatar Petroleum (QP) employees for the benefit of Syrian refugees.

The cheque donations were handed over last Tuesday by Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulla Al-Obaidly, Manager for Public Relations and Communications of QP, to Mr. Mohamad Mubarak Al-Adsani of Qatar Charity, Mr. Ali Al-Kuwari, Chief of PR of RAF, and Mr. Adel Albaker, General Affairs Manager of the QRCS.

Also present during the check handover ceremony were a number of senior officials from QP and from the three charitable organizations.

The donations with a total amount of QAR 815,400 were contributed by QP employees during an internal fund-raising campaign held between February and April 2013. The three charitable organizations each received a donation of QAR 271,800 to be used in their humanitarian activities for the thousands of refugees who have been adversely affected by the ongoing crisis in Syria.

This year’s fund-raising campaign for the benefit of Syrian refugees followed a similar campaign among QP employees last year, with all the proceeds also turned over to Qatar Charity, RAF and the QRCS.

Officials of the three charitable organizations expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the continued support of QP employees to the medical and humanitarian assistance that they provide to the people of Syria. They pointed out that the donations would go a long way in their ongoing efforts to alleviate the plight of the refugees as the crisis drags on.
