OREANDA-NEWS. In relation with celebrating the main state holiday “The Day of Russia” the representatives of NPO Saturn presented the museum of P.F. Derunov elementary school No. 12 with some new exhibits. Ten scaled models of civil and military aircraft (Tu-154M, Il-76, SSJ100, Su-27, Su-35, Т-50, HJT-36, etc.) powered by NPO Saturn-made engines have decorated the exposition dedicated to the life of the legendary director of the Rybinsk motor plant - Pavel Fedorovich Derunov and to the past and present of the company where the parents of many kids who go to school No. 12 work.

School No. 12 is located in the city district which was built in the 70-80's by the company's employees under the leadership of Mr. Derunov. Nowadays this modern learning institution is set to become a career-guidance center with the mission to raise the future Saturn employees in virtue of the best company's traditions.

The company has already made available for the in-school exposition exhibits of some aviation engine components, historical materials and recent printed media - booklets, books and newspapers. One of the latest arrivals is a book called “Saturn 2012. Link between the generations”, a corporate publication project which has encompassed the memoirs of the company's veterans - Pavel Derunov's contemporaries who stood behind the creation of one of the most renowned aerospace engine-building companies in Russia. In the nearest collaboration plans is the organization of a meeting between the students and the veterans in the museum's main hall. In the frame of the career-guidance activity the 9th and 11th graders are as always welcome to visit the company's production shops and the exhibition hall featuring over 20 aerospace engines designed and manufactured by NPO Saturn.

NPO Saturn started actively supporting the P.F. Derunov museum back in 2012 and the participants of this joint project are confident that their collaboration will continue in the future.

During the festive ceremony of presenting the museum with the aircraft mock-up's, Yuriy Pautov, NPO Saturn first deputy human resources director and Rybinsk city district municipal council deputy said: “Aviation is one of those domains that you simply cannot but fall in love with. There is a notion of “love of the sky”, and many people experience this in their childhood. Some come to it through reading books, some go in for plane modeling or parachuting. One way or another, the youth romanticism leads the school graduates into aviation vocational schools and higher-learning institutions, and from that moment on their life becomes connected to the aviation. Any country in the world is proud of its aviation industry. Naturally, this pride is fostered from an early age. We are confident that the P.F. Derunov museum will contribute greatly to fostering pride of your country, your city, your parents who are doing a state-important job - design and manufacture of aerospace engines. This pride transforms into a conscious desire to get a needed education, stay in Rybinsk and dedicate your life to your native town.

In the frame of its career-guidance activity, NPO Saturn continues to commission the best Rybinsk elementary students to the country's top-notch higher-learning institutions such as SGAU, MAI, N.E. Bauman MGTU and P.A. Solovyev RGATU. This targeted training program provides for a substantial financial support of students including disbursement of additional scholarships, start-up allowances upon the initial employment and privileged terms of mortgage. All along the training the students constantly interact with the company which minimizes their subsequent adaptation period when it comes to employment by Saturn.

By the way, 17 Samara state aerospace university graduates who have completed the targeted training program are now successfully working in the NPO Saturn design departments. Good education serves as a solid foundation for prospective employment. I hope that the school museum will facilitate the choice in favor of engineering and technical careers”.

Having presented the letters of appreciation on behalf of the teachers and school administration to the chairman of the NPO Saturn veterans' council Valeriy Semenov and NPO Saturn youth board chairman Oleg Rozin as a token of gratitude for the donated exhibits and help with the preparation of the exposition at the school's P.F. Derunov museum, Lyudmila Bekeneva, principal of the elementary school No. 12 underscored: “We are delighted that our school carries the name of Pavel Fedorovich Derunov. We see our mission as to make sure our students understand what city they live in and what a great company is located here. To make this work more meaningful and systemic, it was decided to create the school museum, a place for extracurricular activities as well as for career-guidance and research-related events. The exhibits we've received thanks to the company serve as yet another incentive for our staff to cater better to the kids who want to link their future with aviation. This will ultimately motivate our graduates to stay in Rybinsk, enroll in the P.A. Solovyev Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University and other aerospace-related higher-learning institutions and start their career with NPO Saturn.
