OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2013. By the end of 2014 in Ukraine there will have been built 200 family-type homes. Minister of Social Policy Nataliya Korolevska announced on air of one of TV channels.

“In the following year, according to the program of activization of the economic development we have planned to build 200 family-type homes in Ukraine. Our aim is to maintain the system in such a way that from January 1, 2014 no orphaned child was handed over to these “Stalin’s” systems of boarding schools. To make that all the children who appear to be orphans must be registered and sent to such centers – family-type homes. I consider this task is feasible. This task was set to us by the President,” Nataliya Korolevska announced.

The Minister gave an example of Kyiv region where 21 family-type homes have been functioning already. One of the most successful projects of family –type homes is considered Center of social support of children and families “The Promin of Nadiyi” (Light of Hope) in Makarov of Kyiv region. It has been lately attended by the President.

“Concerning Makarov, the success can be called not only the activity of family-type homes, but the whole complex of family-oriented social services which will help in the nearest future to refuse completely from the boarding-school approach in upbringing children-orphans and children deprived of parental care. This experience is planned to acquire for reforming of a system of raising of orphaned children all around the country,” Nataliya Korolevska explained.
