OREANDA-NEWS. The 13th session of the joint inter-governmental commission on bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was held in Astana.

The session was held in order to expand trade-economic cooperation, develop cooperation in transport, transit and energy sectors between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of regional development of Kazakhstan Bakitjan Sagintaev said that the turnover between two nations rose by 11% year-on-year to USD 2.161 billion in 2012.

Exports of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan in 2012 reached USD 1.344 billion and the growth rate made up 14%. Imports from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan grew by 6% to USD 817 million.

In 2002-2012, the direct investments from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan made up USD 10,5 million and Kazakh capital to Uzbekistan – USD 102 million in 2004-2012.

At the session, the sides agreed to continue practical implementation of the strategy for economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for 2007-2016.

In the results of the session, the sides signed a protocol of the 13th session of the joint inter-governmental commission on bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
