OREANDA-NEWS. June 18, 2013. Russian Railways and the logistics company GEFCO have jointly shipped more than 2,000 vehicles weighing 4,025 tons produced by Sollers-Far East LLC in Vladivostok to western Russia since the beginning of 2013.

Serial production of Toyota's Land Cruiser Prado SUV began at a plant in Primorsky Territory in Russia's Far East at the end of February 2013.

During the initial production stage, the factory's capacity is 1,000 units per month. Vehicles destined for customers in various Russian regions are delivered in specialised rail-car transporters belonging to different owners via the Trans-Siberian Railway to GEFCO's storage complex in Domodedovo Rayon in Moscow region (station Belye Stolby).

In order to further improve the quality of transport services, work is being carried out to take deliveries from the plant according to a regular timetable. An agreement has already been signed between Russian Railways and the consignor. This will achieve significant economic benefits by speeding up shipments to Russia's western regions, with a guaranteed time of arrival, as well as by reducing the fee for bringing the rolling stock into position at the factory.

In 2013, it is planned to produce more than 8,500 Land Cruiser Prado SUVs weighing 17,300 tons at the Soller's plant in Vladivostok and ship them by rail to western Russia.
