OREANDA-NEWS.  June 17, 2013. At the press conference, covering the launch of flights of the first low-cost company Wizz Air, Petr Jardan said that the duty of Chisinau Airport makes EUR 28 in the tour-retour ticket price for such aircrafts as Airbus A320, loaded 75%.

However, to encourage air companies to launch flights to new destinations the airport grants them the rebate for the first year and, as a result, the airport duty declines to EUR 10 approximately. These terms are equal for all air companies, the Director General stressed. “All our tariffs are transparent and all our clients are important for us". The minimum cost of the Wizz Air tickets to Chisinau-Italy flights was said to be EUR 20.

When answering the question whether the price goes up after the rebate expires in a year, Wizz Air Corporate Communications Manager Tamara Mshveniradze said a lot of things may change in a year, but nevertheless, the company is considering an opportunity for opening new directions from Chisinau. According to Petr Jardan, the airport is constantly searching for possibilities to cut airport duties and support and encourage air companies. EU visa liberalization for Moldovans is expected to give momentum to the development of the civil aviation of Moldova, he stressed. In this case, a lot of new air companies will enter the national market, including low-cost ones.

As it was said earlier, starting from September 24, Wizz Air launches flights from Chisinau to Venice and Roma on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Wizz Air operates flights to 270 destinations in Europe and Asia, it employs 1600 people, the fleet of the company consists of 44 Airbuses A320 at the age of 3 years and a half upon average. In 2012, the company served 12 million passengers.
