OREANDA-NEWS. June 13, 2013. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has ranked second in a league table of Ukraine’s best companies for  corporate social responsibility (CSR).

This recognition testifies to the significant improvement achieved by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih in the past few years.

The ranking of the most socially responsible companies in Ukraine was published on 27 May by the respected magazine “GVardia”, “Galitskiye Kontrakty”, for the sixth consecutive year.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih ranked fourth in 2012. The ratings are based on an analysis of the companies' application forms filed to the magazine's editorial board, publicly available CSR reports and expert analysis by the judging panel.

Anna Honcharyk, head of communications for ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, said: ‘’The high ranking comes as a recognition for our large scale social projects as well as our transparency – one of the key pillars of our corporate responsibility approach. The open dialogue we pursue with all our stakeholders is another key element which confirms and further strengthens their trust in this business.’’

The most successful companies listed in the “GVardia 500’’ rating were invited to participate in the contest. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih came second, with a score of 87.56/100, only surpassed by energy company DTEK with 89.25. The general performance score was determined based on four key indicators:

Social report as an instrument of dialogue with the community

The consistency in performing CSR

Transparency and cooperation with stakeholders

Transparent and systematic activity in the major CSR spheres (personnel development, health and safety, environmental protection and sustainability, ethical behaviour, improvement of products and relations with consumers, local community development).

The second corporate responsibility report published by Kryvyi Rih in 2012 was another determining factor in the ranking. The report was in fact previously recognised as the best non-financial report in Ukraine at the Readers Choice Awards 2012.

In its report, GVardia underlines how ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’s 2012 CR report was prepared in accordance with the international standards of non-financial reports, including the global reporting initiative (GRI, B+).

The site’s next corporate responsibility report is already in the pipeline, and will highlight Kryvyi Rih’s social projects and investments in 2012.
