OSX Celebrates FPSO OSX-3 Naming Ceremony
OREANDA-NEWS. OSX celebrated on May 31, the FPSO OSX-3 naming ceremony. The oil production unit was converted from a vessel to a FPSO at Jurong shipyard, with a turn-key Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract with Modec.
With 370 meters length, 57 meters breadth and 31 meters depth, the FPSO OSX-3 is composed of 16 modules and has production capacity of up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day and storage capacity of up to 1,300,000 barrels.
“The naming ceremony of the FPSO OSX-3 represents an important achievement for OSX. This is the second oil production unit in the company’s fleet and will step up our leasing and Operation and Maintenance activities,” said Carlos Bellot, CEO of OSX.
The FPSO OSX-3 will be leased to OGX, the oil and gas Exploration and Production company of the EBX Group, and operated by OSX Servicos. The destination of this unit will be the Tubarao Martelo field, located in the shallow waters of the Campos Basin – the most prolific basin in Brazil, responsible for approximately 80% of national oil production.
The first oil from the Tubarao Martelo field is expected for the end of 2013. The field is located in the BM-C-39 and BM-C-40 blocks and operated by OGX in partnership with Petronas (the Malaysian national oil company).
