CDB to Promote New Urbanization
OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2013. The Beijing Municipal Government and China Development Bank (CDB) signed a "Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement for Accelerating New Urbanization Building in Beijing" in Beijing. Guo Jinlong, secretary of the Beijing municipal party committee; Wang Anshun, deputy secretary of the Beijing municipal party committee and mayor of Beijing; and Hu Huaibang, chairman of the board of CDB, attended the meeting.
Guo Jinlong thanked CDB for its long-term help and support for construction and development in Beijing. He expressed the hope that CDB will vigorously support Beijing in speeding up rail transport and other infrastructure construction to improve the city's carrying capacity; support the capital's ecological environment building to improve the level of ecological civilization; support the construction of public service facilities to further solve housing support for the masses; and support the building of Zhongguancun to actively participate in innovation in science and technology and application of its fruits.
Wang Anshun said: As a policy bank CDB has increasingly demonstrated its special importance. Beijing's efforts to achieve the "two leadings" in innovation-driven development and urban-rural integration rely on the great support from the financial industry. He expressed the hope that CDB will continue to support the development in the capital while Beijing will stick to doing a good job in the "four services" to create a good environment for CDB's develop in Beijing.
Hu Huaibang said CDB will step up its efforts to meet funding requirements with multiple channels and give play to its role as a major bank in supporting new urbanization building, and will carry out comprehensive cooperation in revamping the old town, building the new town and other key areas in order to provide a full range of financial services for the economic and social development in Beijing.
After the meeting, Li Shixiang, member of the standing committee of the Beijing municipal party committee and executive vice mayor of Beijing, and Zheng Zhijie, president of CDB, signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement.
Over the years, CDB has strengthened cooperation with Beijing in development financing and actively supported the development and construction in the capital. Since the beginning of the 12th Five-Year Program period, the bank has made cumulative RMB and foreign currency loans to Beijing amounting to nearly 170 billion yuan, offering the capital strong support in the construction of its urban infrastructure and urban-rural integration in 50 key villages in the urban fringe as well as technological innovation, cultural industry development, welfare housing, the "grocery basket" project and other areas related to the people's livelihood.
