RZD Network Loads 105,6m Tons in May
OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2013. According to the latest figures, loading volumes on the Russian Railways' network in May 2013 amounted to 105.6m tons, 3.4% less than in May 2012.
Compared to May 2012, freight turnover in May 2013 decreased by 1.4% to 185.6bn tariff ton-km. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs in May 2013 increased by 1% to 237.8bn ton-km.
According to the latest figures, loading volumes in January-May 2013 amounted to 502m tons, 3.8% less than in the same five months of 2012.
During January-May 2013, the railways shipped the following freight. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to Jan-May 2012:
coal - 128.3m tons (+0.5%);
coke - 4.8m tons (-8.9%);
oil and petroleum products - 104.7m tons (-3.1%);
iron and manganese ores - 45.1m tons (+1.1%);
ferrous metals - 29.8m tons (-6.2%);
ferrous metal scrap - 6m tons (-10.3%);
chemical and mineral fertilisers - 19.6m tons (+0.2%);
cement - 12.8m tons (-2.1%);
timber - 15.2m tons (-5.8%);
grain - 3.8m tons (-52.5%);
construction materials - 65.7m tons (-5.5%);
non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock - 8.4m tons (-11.2%);
chemicals and soda - 11.3m tons (-5%);
industrial raw materials and moulded materials - 12.5m tons (-5.5%).
Cargo turnover since the beginning of 2013 amounted to 892.8bn tariff ton-km (-3.5%). Taking into account empty wagon runs, freight turnover fell by 1.9% to 1,143.9bn ton-km.
