OREANDA-NEWS. Metalloinvest (the “Company”) announced that a new gas purification unit has been launched at electric arc furnaces 3 and 4 at OEMK (part of Metalloinvest). The installment of the unit has been one of the Company’s priority environmental projects. The new equipment received confirmation of warranted characteristics.

The construction of a gas purification unit has been an important component of the Company’s investment strategy. The installment of the new system of purification of steel furnaces gas emissions will enable to reduce the negative effects on the environment while increasing steel output.

Eduard Potapov, CEO of Management Company METALLOINVEST, commented: “The installment of modern technologies reducing the burden on the environment is one of Metalloinvest’s ongoing priorities. The launch of a new gas purification unit is another step in this direction.”

The launch of the new gas purification unit at electric arc furnaces 3 and 4 has led to a reduction in the residual dust from gas emissions by 2.5 times. This has enabled the Company to reduce the release of dust into the atmosphere at the two furnaces by 1.5 times. The level of dust in at the steel makers’ workplaces has fallen on average by 2 times.
