OREANDA-NEWS. June 07, 2013. Following an increased number of requests for visits to the Omarska mine site during 2012, ArcelorMittal has continued to work closely with the Association “Prijedor '92” and other groups representing those affected by the 1990s conflicts in the area.

As a result, we are publishing new arrangements designed to provide safe access for as many visitors as possible and to clarify the protocols that should be followed by those proposing a visit.

The general principle of the new arrangements is that we will make every effort to accommodate requests for visits on any regular working day, providing that health and safety guidelines are strictly followed. Visits cannot be made on national holidays, and we reserve the right to offer an alternative date if exceptional operational activity makes a visit on the proposed date impossible.
Therefore, since the beginning of 2013, several visits have already taken place under these arrangements.

Further on, this year, as every year, we will facilitate the annual Commemoration Day on August 6 when normal working operations in the visiting area and access roads will be suspended so that people can safely pay their respects to the victims of the 1992 conflict.
