Ukraine to Intensify Cooperation with Customs Union
OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2013. Memorandum of increasing interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and Ukraine will strengthen cooperation between our country and the countries of the Customs Union. This was stressed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov during his working visit to Belarus.
"This Memorandum will allow us, in fact at the previous step, to view the decisions of those, which are preparing for the adoption by the Customs Union countries. This means that we get the opportunity at the diplomatic level and at the level of heads of governments and states to discuss the very important issue for us to trade and economic cooperation. Now when we do not participate in these bodies, we have after the decision is passed to have very complex negotiations with each country individually to adjust those agreements in accordance with our interests", Mykola Azarov said. But he added that sometimes it is impossible to make changes to such agreements.
"It is much better for us to participate in the discussion at the previous level. I emphasize that our cooperation with the Customs Union is extremely important because it is 40% of our turnover," the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
The Prime Minister said that today he will sign a Memorandum with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko, then the representative of Ukraine will be able to attend the meetings of member countries of the Union.
Mykola Azarov said that Ukraine has not determined the candidate of its representative in the Customs Union yet. "After the signing of the Memorandum we can participate in the work of the Customs Union. We will determine who will be our representative - is examined several candidates. The main requirements for such a specialist: he must be a professional in the field of trade and economic cooperation between the CIS and the Customs Union," Mykola Azarov summed up.
