OREANDA-NEWS. The Governments of Belarus and Serbia have made a principle agreement to establish two large machine-building groups in Serbia with Belarusian industries taking part.

The agreement was made during a visit of the Belarusian government delegation to Serbia on May 16, the government’s press-service reports with reference to Vice Premier Petr Prokopovich.

The parties have agreed on creating two projects in Serbia and several projects in Belarus, Prokopovich said.

Belarus views Serbia as a platform to promote Belarusian products on the Balkan market, while Serbia seeks to use Belarus as a door to the Eurasian economic space, Prokopovich said.

In turn, Serbian Vice Premier Aleksandar Vucic spoke about mutual investments and referred to Belarus’ OJSC Amkodor and Serbian business companies as a good example.

Serbia has made an agreement to promote cooperation between Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ, Zhlobin) and a similar Serbia-based enterprise, Vucic informed.
