OREANDA-NEWS. DTEK, the biggest energy company in Ukraine, sold USD 750m Eurobonds with 7.875% coupon and the maturity period in 2018.

The funds from the sale were used to make a partial buyback of bonds of the previous issue, meet the company's corporate goals, including but not limited to financing the current capital expenditures, financing of working capital and paying debts; and to a lesser extent, to capitalise on growth opportunities through investments and acquisitions.

DTEK's Chief Financial Officer Vsevolod Starukhin said: "Despite the current volatility in international capital markets, DTEK has maintained its ability to raise long-term funding on favourable conditions. It indicates the confidence of creditors and investors that we are a reliable business and consistently deliver on our development plans."

DTEK is the largest Ukrainian energy company, part of System Capital Management (SCM) financial and industrial group. DTEK’s enterprises create an efficient production chain from coal mining and processing to electricity generation, distribution and sales.

DTEK’s mining business comprises 31 coal mines and 13 processing plants in Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine as well as in Rostov region of the Russian Federation. In 2012, the Ukrainian mines of DTEK produced more than 39 million tonnes of coal.

The power generation business of DTEK is represented by ten thermal power plants and two CHP plants with the total installed capacity of over 18GW. DTEK's generating companies are located in Ukraine's seven regions and its capital (Kievenergo produces and supplies heat and electricity to the city of Kiev).

Five companies represent DTEK’s electricity distribution and sales business. DTEK’s power supplying companies serve 5.2 million clients, both individual households and companies.

DTEK Trading represents DTEK in all trading operations both in the domestic market and abroad. Its coal products are consumed by power plants, coking plants and steel mills in Ukraine as well as power plants and industrial facilities in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Africa. DTEK also exports electricity to Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Belarus.

DTEK’s consolidated revenue amounted to UAH 82.5 billion and net profit was UAH 5.9 billion in 2012. Last year DTEK paid UAH 15.5 billion in taxes.
