OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2013. Qatar Petroleum’s Corporate Purchasing and Contracts Department has recently been honoured for its excellence in procurement and supply at the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Middle East Awards 2013, which was held in Dubai.

QP won the award for “Best Supplier Relationship Management” in the Middle East and the North Africa region, and the award was received by Mr. Abdulrahman Yousef Abdulla Ahmed, QP’s Purchasing Manager. Additionally, QP was also a finalist in two other award categories for “Best People Development Initiative” and “Best Contribution to the Reputation of the Procurement Profession.”

During the ceremony, which was held at the InterContinental Dubai - Festival City Hotel, CIPS (UK) President Mrs. Paula Gildert praised QP for its collaborative supplier development efforts and long-term supplier partnerships to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain, thus meeting the demands of oil and gas production activities.

Mr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al-Mulla, Corporate Purchasing and Contracts Manager of QP, stated that the corporation has embarked on a step change in how the business historically operated.

“Under the guidance of His Excellency Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, we are expanding our knowledge through collaboration and partnership in pursuit of excellence. In the Purchasing and Contracts Management, we continue to embrace best practices in order to achieve enhanced efficiency,” Mr. Al-Mulla said.

“Most notable among our ongoing efforts is our commitment to the sustainable development of local Qatari companies in meeting the ever-increasing demands of Qatar Petroleum.  Along with the establishment of strategic pricing, call-off agreements and an electronic platform for procurement and contractor/supplier registration, we are making a difference in our operations.  This award demonstrates that our efforts to date are being recognised not only in Qatar but also at the international level,” he added.
