OREANDA-NEWS. JSC KEGOC (“KEGOC” or the “Company”), the system operator of Kazakhstan’s unified power system (UPS), today announces that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact.

Bakytzhan Kazhiyev, Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC, said: “Joining the UN Global Compact underlines the seriousness of the Company’s intentions to continue setting high standards as a leader in corporate governance in Kazakhstan. We always strive to meet global best practice, and this is why we have joined this initiative to promote sustainable development and corporate responsibility.”

The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest voluntary corporate social responsibility initiative, with more than 8,000 business participants and other stakeholders from 135 countries worldwide. Enshrined in 10 universal principles, the compact provides a policy framework for the development, implementation and disclosure of sustainability principles and practices related to its four core areas: human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption
