OREANDA-NEWS. Outfitting of the new Obluchensky Tunnel, which is 860 meters long, in the Obluchie – Izvestkovaya section of the Trans-Siberian Railway nears completion.

Tunneling has been completed; waterproofing and water drainage conduit have been put in place; the permanent lining has been built; the builders have erected the tunnel entries and placed a non-ballast bed for a continuous welded rail track. They are outfitting the tunnel approaches, trimming the tunnel entries, and installing equipment.

The tunnel is scheduled for opening for train traffic in autumn 2013. Reconstruction of the old tunnel will begin after the new tunnel has been commissioned.
