OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2013. As part of the project to build a combined (road and rail) link between Adler and the Alpika Service Mountain Resort, with the construction of a second railway line between Sochi - Adler - Vesyoloe, one of the two traction substations, Beregovaya, has now been connected to the grid. This is one of the most important stages in the construction of the combined road and rail link.

Test runs of the Lastochka electric train will begin on the railway line in the near future.

The combined road and rail link between Adler - Alpika Service Mountain Resort will enable passengers to travel from from Adler to Krasnaya Polyana (mountain cluster) and the Olympic Park Ice Palace in the Imeretinsky valley (coastal cluster).

The road is built to handle 11,500 people per hour, while the Adler - Alpika Service railway line can take 6 pairs of trains with up to 8,500 passengers per hour at speeds of up to 160 kph. Travel time by train is about 30 minutes.

The project will take 4 years 10 and is scheduled for completion in October 2013.
