Tata Consultancy Services Will Engage 4,000 IT Professional in Odisha
OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today assured the Odisha government about its plan to engage about 4,000 information technology (IT) professionals in the state with completion of its first expansion in next three months.
TCS CEO Natarajan Chandrasekaran gave this assurance to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a meeting here. While the TCS, CEO sought the state government's support, Patnaik assured him of all assistance to make Bhubaneswar the No.1 IT destination among the Tier-II cities of the country.
Road map for IT development is being rolled out by the Department of IT (DoIT), an official of the state government said.
Chandrasekaran said TCS has now engaged 1,000 IT professionals in its Odisha Hub, which will go up to 4,000 with new expansion. He also hinted on second expansion of its Bhubaneswar project.
The TCS's Bhubaneswar Centre has so far created at least 20 major within the country and abroad, the CEO said.
"TCS has planned another expansion, which will be complete by 2015-16 and at least 10,000 IT professionals will be deployed," Chandrasekaran told reporters after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the state government has implemented a number of e-governance projects in different fields like education, health care, public distribution, agriculture, land records to increase the access of information to the rural masses, said state's IT Secretary M S Padhee.
