ICBC loans are critical to reconstruction in disaster-hit regions.

Immediately after the calamity ICBC provides emergency financial services to related departments involved in the rescue work and affected companies. A "green channel" has been opened for these companies to apply for loans to meet their dire need of cash. Loans to restore water, electricity and gas, and loans to transportation, telecommunication, hospital and school have been given first priority in processing, approval, and release under favorable policy.

Ya'an Passenger Coach Company, the second largest passenger transportation company in Ya'an, operates buses and coaches for highway and public transport in Lushan County. When Lushan was hit by an earthquake on April 20, the company suffered big loss and needed immediate cash to resume the public transport services. After understanding the situation, ICBC just used 2 working days to go through the procedures to approve a small business loan of RMB 26 million to the company on April 28. The loan helped the company get immediate cash for business and its services were resumed soon. The company provided 60+ large and small coaches for the transportation of rescue workers to quake-stricken areas, which greatly supported the rescue efforts.
