Ukraine, USA Eager to Deepen Cooperation in Agriculture
OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2013. Ukraine and the USA are ready to deepen cooperation in agriculture area. This was aired during a meeting between Deputy under Secretary of Agriculture for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Darci Vetter and Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhniuk in the course of his working visit to the United States of America.
“Annually the trade turnover between Ukraine and USA is increased. Only in 2012 it grew by 120 million as compared to 2011. The similar positive tendency is preserved during first months of the current year. Ukraine successfully sells molasses, oil, chocolate, products of grain and cereals etc. However, we are interested in enlargement of presence of national products,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk informed.
Moreover, Mykola Prysyazhniuk announced that Ukrainian party is concerned about study of experience of USA in maintenance of milk industry and state support of milk producers and also creating of joint enterprises in livestock production.
The Minister emphasized that Ukraine is also interested in import of breeding resources from the USA.
In turn, Deputy Under Secretary of Agriculture for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Darci Vetter expressed interest to cooperation in the area of development and introduction of technologies in agrarian sector, in particular in production of bioethanol and seeds. Besides, during the meeting it was discussed receiving by Ukraine a permission to export corn and wheat to the USA.
It should be noted that in 2012 trade turnover of agricultural production between Ukraine and the USA made up over USD 353 million, which is by 124 million more that in 2011. And over three months of 2013 the trade turnover made up over USD 126 million, which is by 29 million more than over the analogous period of 2012.
