OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2013. Qatar Petroleum’s Corporate Training Department recently held an “Open Day for Public Vocational Awareness” to inform young Qataris about the various technical training programs being offered by QP to enhance their skills as well as employment prospects.

The event, which was held last May 13 at the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q), followed the extensive school visits conducted since early this year by QP’s Corporate Training Department. The school visits enabled the corporation to meet with many secondary students throughout Qatar to inform them about the range of specialized technical programs and career opportunities currently available in QP and its subsidiaries.

The “Open Day for Public Vocational Awareness” comes within QP’s strategic plan to raise awareness among Qatari nationals about their pivotal role in the continued development of the country’s energy and industry sector. The event was also aimed at attracting more young Qataris to forge a career in this vital sector, thus helping achieve the national Qatarisation plan in the process.

The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Mr. Ibrahim Eissa Radwan Head of General Skills Learning at QP, then delivered the welcome address, and this was followed by a presentation about the technical preparation program by Mr. Yousef Al-Hashimi, Learning and Assessment Coordinator. The staff development policy in QP was then explained in a presentation by Mr. Abdulla Ahmed Abdulla Al-Muhannadi, Development Supervisor.

A question-and-answer session was later held to give the participants an opportunity to make queries and seek clarifications on QP’s technical training programs. The event concluded with a tour of the training facilities at CNA-Q, thus enabling the participants to see the modern equipment used in QP’s various technical programs.
