OMK-Tube (OMK-Tube, Inc, Houston, Texas, USA, part of the United Metallurgical Company, OMK CJSC, Moscow) has been recognized as the finalist in the fourth annual AMM Awards for Steel Excellence 2013. The finalists were announced following the contest held by American Metal Market, the expert analytical journal on the US steel market. Achievements of OMK were recognized in the Best Greenfield Project nomination for construction of the OCTG pipe-producing plant in Houston. This year, the 34 most innovative and highest achieving companies operating in the US steel market are being honored as finalists. They are ArcelorMittal USA LLC, Evraz Inc. North America, Steel Dynamics Inc., The Material Works Ltd., etc.

"OMK is committed to high standards of business and this allowed us to construct a plant from scratch and launch production there in a record-setting time – 9 months during which a great deal of work has been done to choose appropriate equipment, arrange construction and the launch of the plant and form a team of managers. The activities led to the project's positive economic performance. Being a finalist of the AMM Awards for Steel Excellence is yet more proof of OMK’s highly efficient performance in the world’s largest industrial country," said Stanislav Kovalyov, chairman of the board of directors, OMK North America.

The award winners will be presented on June 18 during the Steel Success Strategies XXVIII Conference.
