OREANDA-NEWS. May 22, 2013. Law firm SORAINEN received its first “Baltic States Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year” award at the prestigious International Tax Review European Tax Awards 2013 held in London. Previously, SORAINEN was among the TOP 5 nominees in each of the four years the award has been presented for the Baltics.

In the three preceding years SORAINEN received the “Baltic Tax Firm of the Year” award and was among the Top 5 nominees this year. This is the highest-level recognition among the tax community in Europe.

“The transfer pricing award this year comes as a reward for our hard efforts to strengthen the SORAINEN transfer pricing practice in the last couple of years. Our efforts reflect both in our team composition and specialisation as well as in the ever growing emphasis on transfer pricing in our everyday work. The decision to become a member of the Transfer Pricing Associates Global network has played a significant role in developing our transfer pricing practice as well. We are glad that our strategic response to the Baltic market trend towards increasing transfer pricing control from the state authorities has received recognition,” comments Janis Taukacs, partner and regional head of the SORAINEN Tax & Customs Team.

The SORAINEN Tax & Customs Team award winning transaction experience included preparing and implementing transfer pricing documentation for a leading tyre and rubber company and a large fuel retailer, and advice on localisation of group’s transfer pricing documentation file for Stockmann. Other experience includes advice on tax and transfer pricing issues related to cash pooling arrangements used by SEB entities in the Baltics as well as assistance in obtaining a binding ruling from the tax authorities on tax and transfer pricing aspects related to the cross-border transfer of a business as a going concern to PHB Group.

The International Tax Review awards are judged according to the size, innovation and complexity of the tax advice given. SORAINEN was independently evaluated by International Tax Review editorial staff, consulting practitioners and tax executives from companies around Europe alongside the other finalists being evaluated for the award.

International Tax Review, part of the Euromoney Legal Media Group, is the most trusted publication and online resource for corporate tax directors, policymakers and practitioners. For more than 20 years it has been providing comprehensive international news, opinions, guides to innovative deals, surveys, international updates and interviews with leading tax directors and officials from around the world. The annual awards presented by the International Tax Review are now in their eighth year.

The International Tax Review European Tax Award is the third award received by SORAINEN this year – in April and early May, the firm was honoured with its fourth “Baltic Law Firm of the Year” award at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) European Awards 2012 and its second “Best Provider of Legal Services in Belarus” award from the Belarus Ministry of Justice.
