Uzbek-Latvian Interstate Dialogue Begins
OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2013. The head of state noted at the start of conversation that the regular Uzbek-Latvian interstate dialogue all over the extensive agenda allows as much for the discussion of practical issues in bilateral and multilateral interaction as for the candid exchange of views and evaluations across pressing regional and international concerns.
With joint efforts our two countries have garnered a considerable expertise in mutually advantageous cooperation in a great variety of spheres, including that in the format of Uzbekistan-European Union as well as within international institutions and regional organizations.
Latvia is Uzbekistan’s third most important trade partner among EU member nations, backed by a steadfast growth in the bilateral trade turnover that reached 243.2 million US dollars in 2012.
A critical component of interaction between Uzbekistan and Latvia is cooperation in transport communications; the two sides endeavor to materialize the remarkable transit capacities they boast.
Edgars Rinkevics expressed sincere gratefulness to the President of Uzbekistan for a warm reception and confirmed the willingness of the Latvian leadership to further enhance the multifaceted cooperation on a long-term and pragmatic basis.
Also, other issues of shared interest were addressed during the meeting at the Oqsaroy.
