OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2013. Law firm SORAINEN won the highly regarded “Baltic Law Firm of the Year” award at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) European Awards 2013 for advising the most complex and innovative international transactions in the Baltic region last year.

SORAINEN has already been honoured with this international acknowledgement three times before, confirming the firm’s continuous expertise in helping clients to close value-added transactions.

“This is already the 4th regional award from the IFLR and the 12th regional award in total. The experience and creativity of our lawyers in combination with hard work are the most valued features of our legal practice. At moments like this, we know the hard work has paid off!”, comments Reimo Hammerberg, regional head of the SORAINEN Banking & Finance Team. “Above all,” he continues, “we appreciate our clients, who have entrusted us with such important and business-critical assignments.”

Previously SORAINEN won the awards in 2009, 2010 and 2012. SORAINEN is also the only law firm in the Baltics that has been four times recognised with the award since its establishment for the Baltics in 2008. This time recognition came particularly for a complex Creditstar Group bond restructuring and security sharing arrangement, a new bond issue and obtaining a credit facility in Estonia; legal and tax assistance in a CHF 175 million bond issue by the Republic of Lithuania – the first ever Lithuanian borrowing in Swiss francs from the international markets; and lending for construction of a floating storage and regasification unit for an LNG terminal in Lithuania –  one of the largest, most complex and most innovative financing projects in the Baltics in recent years.

IFLR, part of the Euromoney Legal Media Group and issued for over 20 years, is the world's leading publication for in-house counsel and practitioners in the financial markets. The annual IFLR European Awards recognise the leading law firms in Europe for advising on the most complex and innovative international transactions in the areas of debt, equity and capital markets, project financing, restructuring and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The IFLR awards are based on submissions by firms plus feedback from clients, in-house counsel and financing specialists at international financial institutions.

With repeated recognition from IFLR, SORAINEN continues to be the most awarded and internationally recognised law firm in the Baltics. In addition to receiving the IFLR award in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013, SORAINEN was recognised as “Baltic Law Firm of the Year” at the PLC Which lawyer? Law Firm Awards 2009 and 2010 and as “Baltic Legal Adviser of the Year” at the European M&A Awards 2008 and 2012 organised by The Financial Times & Mergermarket. SORAINEN has also three times received the “Baltic States Tax Firm of the Year” award from International Tax Review.
