At the seventh exposition and forum of Best Soft Uzbekistan-2013, achievements of the country’s software industry are being demonstrated, oriented at representatives of business community, government agencies and public administration bodies as well as general public.

Uzbekistan’s software product market has been displaying a dynamic growth. This is facilitated by the constant attention paid by President Islam Karimov to the development of this sector, along with the well-established legislative base that secures the protection of rights and interests of manufacturers. Owing to this, a number of major projects have been in progress designed to bolster the telecommunications infrastructure, mobile communications and other hi-tech goods. This was expounded on by the chairman of the Committee for Information and Communication Technologies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Jurabaev, deputy chairman the State Committee of Communications, Information and Telecommunication Technologies Sh.Shermatov and other speakers.

It is clearly manifest in the exposition Best Soft Uzbekistan-2013, whose exhibition range has been enhancing with the lapse of time. Thus, about 40 national software companies took part in it last year and presented more than 80 innovations; this time around, it is respectively 60 firms who exhibit approximately 120 software goods. Among them are international IT companies, manufacturers and integrators, content-developers and service providers.

“The market of software services of Uzbekistan wields a tremendous potential and attracts growing interest of foreign players in the global IT space,” says South Korea-based SK c&c director general Daniel Kim. “Therefore, by participating in this occasion we aim at, first and foremost, establishing cooperation with Uzbek enterprises and organizations in the development and introduction of cutting-edge software.”

The exposition of Tashkent University of Information Technologies and its regional branches has proved rather appealing. The university students presented a multimedia study guide for distance learning in the discipline “Multimedia Packages of Applied Software”, electronic translator software, a mobile navigator for English, as well as a system of registration and stocktaking of attendance with the use of plastic cards. The best developments were presented at a separate stand. They have included a new software Antispam.

“I am glad to see my innovation, Antispam, presented at the exhibition. It helps analyze and block up to 99 percent of spam messages,” tells Timur Rafikov, graduate student (MA) of Tashkent University of Information Technologies. “Thanks to these kinds of events and the support for young programmers, we have opportunity to conduct research, share expertise and make our own input into the advancement of software industry.”

No less interesting is the stand of the BePro Center of Programmers, successor of the Center of Training and Support for the Young Programmers of Uzbekistan. It presented such novelties as Doppix operational system, BuyurtmaData for registration, stocktaking and management of attendees in facilities, КаDаТа software of information-library centers, MedData software for automation of business processes of polyclinics and hospitals.

It is important to note that within the framework of the current exhibition Best Soft Uzbekistan-2013, a particular significance is attached to the introduction of the system of electronic government – a new form of the organization of activity of government bodies that ensures a qualitatively new level of swiftness and comfort for corporate entities and citizens in receiving public services and information on the results of the activities of government agencies and administrative bodies thanks to the extensive application of information and communication technologies.

As specialists stress, the formation of electronic government system in Uzbekistan is turning into one of the priority challenges. It is conditioned by the wide-ranging reforms underway in the country directed at consistent introduction of information and communication technologies to all spheres of government administration. Currently, in excess of 400 interactive public services are offered by government authorities on their web sites and the government portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan (www.gov.uz).

The exposition is anticipated to be a platform for the presentation of interactive services by the Ministries of Justice and Public Education, the State Tax Committee, the State Statistics Committee, the Trade and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekenergo State Joint-Stock Company and others.
