Ukraine to Modernize Mining-Metallurgical Complex with EU Eco Norms
OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2013. Modernization of mining-metallurgical complex must be conducted in accordance with European ecological standards. It will solve ecological problems of the regions and initiate respective ecological programs. It was stated by the President in the course of his working visit to Zaporizhia region.
“It is very important for us that the modernization of mining-metallurgical complex is conducted in accordance with European ecological standards,” the President said at the ceremony of putting into operation the first sinter machine of metallurgical plant “Zaporizhstal”.
Viktor Yanukovych noted that the given machine was the first of six planned to be installed at “Zaporizhstal”. “They will annually reduce harmful emissions by 10%,” the President said.
He expressed hope that the second machine would be installed at the end of 2013.
In their turn, Zaporizhia mayor Oleksandr Sin and Zaporizhia RSA Head Oleksandr Peklushenko expressed gratitude to the President for constant attention to the solution of ecological problems of the region.
Founder of “SCM” Rinat Akhmetov noted that modernization of metallurgical plant would be further implemented in order to make it one of the best in Europe. “I am sure that we will build a strong economy and Zaporizhia will have a clear air. Everyone will win from that: enterprise, labor collective, city, region, country,” he said.
The Head of State also communicated with the workers of the plant.
