OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2013. Former CEO of Norilsk Nickel Africa Pty Ltd. Wayne Wenter is as of today appointed to the position of CEO of Norilsk Nickel Australia Pty Ltd. Mr. Wenter has metals and mining project-leading experience from feasibility study stages up to reaching full production capacities.

The appointment comes in conjunction with Norilsk Nickel Australia’s efforts to pull resources into developing Honeymoon Well sulfide ore deposits, while the Lake Johnston asset is being suspended.

Mr. Van Leeuven, former CEO of Norilsk Nickel Australia Pty Ltd is going to be transferred to MMC Norilsk Nickel Moscow head office.

The position of Norilsk Nickel Africa Pty Ltd’s CEO will be taken by Michael Marriott, formerly Deputy Director of Overseas Production Assets Department of MMC Norilsk Nickel. Michael Marriott with an extensive experience of managing mining and metals companies serves on the board of the African enterprise BCL and is a member of Nkomati joint venture’s executive committee, companies in which MMC Norilsk Nickel holds an interest. Mr. Marriott is tasked with optimizing operational, production and management expenses.

The staff changes come in line with new goals of the Company’s overseas assets development.

Born on June 2, 1962.

In 1987 graduated from the South African Technikon Witwatersrand University majoring in Extraction Metallurgy followed by an 18 years of employment at Anglo Platinum, where he managed comprehensive projects. Since 2007 Mr. Wenter holds top-tier positions at the Company’s Africa-based enterprises. Serves on the Board of Directors of NN Africa.

Michael Marriott
Born on February 18, 1955.

Graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand Business School and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with a major in Mining. Has a 31-year long background in metals and mining. His career spanned top-managing positions in Anglo American, Cluff Resources, Midwest Vanadium и Highland African Mining Company Limited. Since 2012 appointed Deputy Director of Overseas Production Assets Department. Serves on the board of BCL and in the Nkomati executive committee.
