Grain Exports Grew by 13,9% in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2013. Ukraine is exporting grain abroad. So, 21.3 million tonnes of grain have already delivered to foreign countries. And it is almost 13.9% more than in the same period of the previous marketing year.
Earned from the export of grain funds the agrarian producers injected in spring field work. This was announced by Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
So, now 6.8 million tonnes of wheat (4.5 million tonnes in 2011-2012 MY), 12.4 million tonnes of corn (11.6 million tonnes), 2 million tonnes of barley (2.3 million tons) have been exported.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that the increase in grain exports allowed the agrarian producers to obtain additional funds and direct them to technical and technological support of spring field work. So, this year, the agrarian producers have significantly better provided with logistical resources compared to previous years that create prerequisites for getting a good grain harvest this year.
The Minister also said that in 2011/12 marketing period Ukraine occupied segment in 2.6% of the world production of cereal crops and 9.2% of world trade that has allowed our country to take 6th place among the leading exporters of grain on the world market. In particular, wheat export - 8th place, coarse grain export - 4 th place, corn export - 4th place.
