ABBYY Announced FlexiCapture Connector for Fujitsu ScanSnap N1800
OREANDA-NEWS. ABBYY Europe, a leading provider of document recognition and data capture technologies, in cooperation with PFU, announced an integration of the network scanner Fujitsu ScanSnap N1800 into ABBYY FlexiCapture 10. The ABBYY FlexiCapture Connector for the ScanSnap N1800 enables companies to easily and flexibly scan paper documents directly into business processes with the push of a button. The connection of Fujitsu network scanners to ABBYY’s FlexiCapture enterprise capture platform provides the technical basis for a variety of “scan-to-process” scenarios. Two document processing scenarios available for demonstration today include a “scan-to-accounts payable” process enabling scanning of invoices directly into an accounts payable (AP) workflow and a “scan-to-HR” scenario enabling scanning of Human Resource (HR) request documents into an absence or leave request process.
Scan documents directly into the business processes
Document processing workflows can be automatically started by an employee directly from the network scanner. From the touch screen of the Fujitsu ScanSnap N1800, a user simply selects the document type corresponding to an internal business procedure or departmental workflow, directly triggering the processing of a document. The network scanner automatically sends the scan to ABBYY FlexiCapture where relevant metadata is extracted and the document is treated according to the workflow and business process rules. After successful processing, the documents along with the business information can be transferred to downstream systems such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) or human resource systems.
Flexible yet secure processing
Workflow processes can be designed according to company approval procedures and access rights. Sensitive records such as invoices and personnel documents can be protected by an authorisation system so that they remain confidential and can only viewed by users with sufficient access rights. For example, an employee from the finance department can scan invoices directly into the appropriate workflow, whilst the personnel department can automatically send employee files to relevant HR processes or send contracts directly to the legal department. And none of the parties can access the other documents in that process.
Archiving and compliance
The new integration streamlines the process of filing scanned documents in searchable formats and preparing them for archiving, parallel to any business processes which have already been triggered. Documents can be easily scanned and converted to search formats or prepared for deposit into document workflow and archiving systems. Companies benefit from clearly defined metadata which enables employees to locate and check documents and passages at any time. This is not only critical in meeting compliance guidelines, but also in making business processes more transparent and efficient.
“Organisations of all industries are searching for ways to increase their business efficiency. With the combination of our FlexiCapture enterprise capture platform and the Fujitsu network scanner they benefit from a seamless integration of paper-based information into their business processes,” explains Jupp Stoepetie, CEO of ABBYY Europe.
“Network scanners are ideal for capturing paper documents on a departmental level. By creating automated document processing workflows that are aligned with internal business procedures companies can significantly accelerate their overall routines,” says Klaus Schulz, Manager Product Marketing EMEA, PFU Imaging Solutions.
