OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has summed up the results of its operations during the long May holidays. In 2013, the passenger traffic rise has been seen on April 27 (Saturday) already, and the increased traffic volume persisted until May 12 (Sunday). During this period the average daily passenger traffic amounted to 82.3 thousand people, and the total number of travellers was 1.3 million people, which is by 14.7% more than in 2012.

The same as in 2012, International passenger traffic were in the highest demand (67% of total flights). International passenger traffic totaled 882.7 thousand passengers which exceeds the previous year figure by 17.8%. The most popular routes were Antalya (Turkey), Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), Hurghada (Egypt), Dubai (UAE), and Munich (Germany). While Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, and Sochi became the most popular destinations among the domestic routes

Moscow Domodedovo Airport — is the largest one of Russia, in 2012 the airport served 28,2 million people. It joins the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI) and on results of 2012 became one of three European airports with the highest dynamic development. Since 2009 it is ranked as the best airport in Eastern Europe by Skytrax. Domodedovo is chosen for flights by member airlines of two largest global airline alliances — Star Alliance and oneworld.
